Tradition of drinking cow blood every morning in Ethiopia

Surma men in Ethiopia like to drink a litre of fresh cow blood early in the morning. The cow is not killed, the vein is just cut by knife and clotted with dung.

This used to be practiced among the cattle keeping communities in Uganda too but it’s very dangerous due to the emerging diseases the cattle carry. It’s better the blood gets cooked before consumption and not taken raw.
